Mallory Quinn had just completed rehab when she took on a job as a babysitter for Ted and Caroline Maxwell’s five-year-old son, Teddy. He loves to draw trees, rabbits, and balloons. One day, Teddy draws something unusual, a man in a forest dragging a woman’s lifeless body. Mallory is perplexed, but she assumes it’s just a childish drawing. However, the drawings become more sinister and lifelike, well beyond what any five-year-old should be capable of.

Mallory and the detective make a trip to the forest where the drawings were set, and they discover an old abandoned house. The house holds a few clues, which lead them to the murderer’s identity. The murderer is still alive, and they realize that Teddy is in danger. Mallory acts quickly and takes Teddy out of the house. She calls the police, and the murderer is finally apprehended. Mallory’s hunch was correct, and she saved Teddy’s life. Teddy is too young to understand the gravity of the situation, but Mallory is forever grateful for the bond they have formed.
To be honest, Hidden Pictures is full of surprises and perfectly balanced with a pleasing dose of suspense and mystery. Every character of this book has performed their character wonderfully. To cut the story short, Hidden Pictures is the perfect holiday novel, you can pick it up and get straight back into the story.
